Snow Tal Trek

Meander through lush Himalayan meadows, pet sheep on the way, and encounter numerous frozen tarns (mountain ponds) till you reach the mother of them all- the Sour Tal Frozen Lake. Explore the enchanting beauty of  the Kullu valley, behold the unparalleled vistas of the Dhauladhar range and traverse the high altitude Kaliheyni (4350 mts.) pass.

This region is a photographer’s paradise, unspoilt by the teeming hordes. You won’t come across human  habitation for miles, except for Bhada Bhangal, the ancient dwelling of the Gaddi sheep herders. These Himalayan herders remain in this quaint hamlet snow bound for five months a year. Come talk to them and learn about their unique lifestyle…in the midst of towering Himalayan peaks and evergreen conifers. If you are lucky, you might even get to spot a bear or an ibex.

Camp Programme (Summer'10) - Family Groups
 

23 May

Travel arrangement by the trekkers.
24 May Report at Nizamuddin station at 2000 hrs and transfer to the AC bus for Manali.
25 Arrive at Prini campsite in Manali around 1200 hrs and settle down. Briefing and orientation. Issue of equipment - Rucksack and Windproof Jacket.
26 Acclimatisation trek to Arjun Gufa and Takshnak Nag Temple. Overnight at base camp.
27 Trek - Base Camp, Prini to Shaleen Village (2150m) 4hrs. Explore the rustic village.
28 Trek - Shaleen to Bran Phath (2650m) 5 hrs. Trek through Pinewoods and Silver Fir Forest.
29 Trek - Bran Phath to Mahili Thach (3200m.) 4hrs. Enchanting view of Dhauladhar range.
30 Trek - Mahili Thach to the frozen Sour Tal Lake (3700m) 4 hrs and back to Laangha Thach (3370m) 2hrs. Enjoy awesome views of Deo Tibba, Inderkilla, Rohtang Pass - - -
31 Trek - Laangha Thach to Klount (2230m) 4hrs. Camp in the mountain meadows of Klount.
1 Jun Trek - Klount to Base Camp Prini via Kanyal village 3hrs. Back to civilization.
2 After packing in the morning, visit Manali town for shopping and fast food.
Depart for Delhi in the evening.
3 Arrive at Nizamuddin station around 11 am. End of the trek.

Age group 9 to 60 years, physical fitness is of essence.
Reporting at Delhi. Pugmarks escort will be on Delhi to Delhi basis.
