Mudumalai and Ooty

Mudumali is a deciduous forest dotted with scrubland, a terrain suitable for large mammals. Elephants are a star species here. Gaurs are a plenty, so also the spotted deer. Probability of coming across a pack of wild dogs is good. . If you are lucky, you might even chance to see the Great Pied Hornbill on one of your walking trails. The flight of this bird is a sight to behold, you can distinctly hear the swoosh of the enormous wings.

Camp Programme (Summer'12)

Day 1

Mumbai campers will report at Tilak Terminus, Kurla at 2130 hrs.
Depart by Coimbtore Express (Train No.11013) at 2235 hrs.
Day 2 Pune campers will report at the Main Porch of Pune Railway Station at 0045 hrs.
Depart from Pune by Coimbtore Express (Train No.11013) at 0150 hrs.
Day 3 Arrive Coimbtore at 0630 hrs and proceed by bus to Ooty for sight seeing. Overnight at Ooty.
Day 4 Experience a shola forest during morning trail. After BF proceed to Mudumalai. Briefing and evening trail.
Day 5 Morning jungle ride in Mudumalai National Park to watch wild elephants, gaurs, samber, barking deer - - - Visit the elephant camp, talk to Mahouts, watch elephant training. Experience a night trail.
Day 6 Birding and nature trails. Look for small animals, spiders, gekos, snakes etc. Games and camp fire.
Day 7 After BF proceed to Mysore sight seeing and shopping. Board Swarna Jayanthi Express (12781) at 2010 hrs
Day 8 Arrive Pune Railway Station at 1600 hrs. Mumbai campers will proceed by Indrayani Express (12526) at 1835 hrs. Arrive Dadar 2133 and CSTM 2155 hrs.
